vineyard grant james

While spending a week in the mountains overlooking San Diego, we had a chance to visit Vineyard Grant James in Ramona, California (if you decide to visit, they are only open Friday – Sunday). About an hour out of San Diego, it is worth the drive.

We had a standard tasting flight that included a white blend, a rose, and four reds. We settled on the Bellatrix (a California white blend) and the Syrah (California, 2015). It was nice to meet the winemaker, Susanne Sapier.

The Bellatrix became the “house wine” during our week in the mountains, sipping it on the balcony of our resort condo. The Syrah is going home with us to be enjoyed with a dinner.

We are hoping to visit Vineyard Grant James again today as we make our way back to Arizona. Susanne will be hosting an educational horizontal tasting of their Zinfandel. More on that later.
